NEW TECHNIQUES FOR THE HEART
Newer techniques in interventional cardiology
In the Hemodynamics Lab of the Interbalkan Medical Center, specialized and experienced doctors, that have been trained abroad on those specific methods, can perform all the newest operations in interventional cardiology, with innovative methods that have proven to be extremely successful to patients with severe heart diseases.
Indicatively, we should mention:
- Thanscatheter replacement of the aortic valve for patients with stenosis (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation)
- Closure of paravalvular leaks in patients with a leaking prosthetic valve (Percutaneous closure of prosthetic valve paravalvular leaks)
- Placement of a special device in the left atrium of the heart to prevent the possibility of a stroke for patients with atrial fibrillation (Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion)
- Denervation of the renal arteries in patients with resilient arterial hypertension (Renal Sympathetic Denervation – RDN)
A great number of operations to patients with congenital heart diseases (atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, pulmonary artery stenosis, percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation, etc.)
The Interbalkan Medical Center also has a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology Lab, with two large hemodynamics lab rooms, where a wide spectrum of coronary artery, and peripheral vascular diseases, as well as structural or congenital heart diseases are diagnosed and treated.
The Cardiac Catheterization Lab is supported by an ICU (coronary care unit) for emergencies, as well as by cardiac rooms, which are fully alert and open on a 24hour basis.
